Tara Carter grew up in the Waycross/Blackshear area and graduated from Pierce County High School in 1992. Tara later moved to Appling County where she raised her two children, a son, Landon who is currently a Junior at UGA, and, a daughter, Logan, who is currently a Freshman at GSU. Tara works as a nurse, however; she feels her greatest accomplishment in life is being a Mother. Tara has a love of animals and shares her empty nest with her grand-dog Maggie and enjoys spending time with all the animals on her mother’s farm in Alma. She loves saltwater fishing, beach hopping and spending time laughing with friends and family. Tara loves to dance is honored to be a part of such a fun and charitable even for an amazing and worthy cause!
After graduating from Ware County High School in 1988, Tommy Cox served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 until 1992 and is as a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. After returning home, he began his law enforcement career as a patrolman for the Waycross Police Department in March 1994. He serves several roles in the department including Captain / Commander of the Criminal Investigations Section, SWAT Commander and General Instructor with advanced certifications in Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and SWAT. Tommy is a graduate of Georgia Law Enforcement Command College and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. Additionally, he serves as President for the Waycross Okefenokee Lion’s Club. Tommy has been married to his wife, Melanie, for 18 years and they have two beautiful daughters, Carrie (16) and Cassie (15) who attend Ware County Senior High.
